5 out of 5 stars Great item (if you use some common sense)   September 16, 2009
WeatherEssentials
This is a high quality mount that securely holds your iPhone. Some reviewers have claimed that the phone pops out over rough terrain. Common sense will tell you that this mount is not made for bull riding or off road biking. However, wrapping a velcro tie wrap or a rubber band around the phone and mount will keep the phone in place over the roughest terrain. I have put over 500 miles of road and off-road biking on mine without the phone falling out.

1 out of 5 stars Broke after 3 weeks   August 25, 2009
Andy Burnfield (Longview, Texas USA)
I bought this iPhone holder for my bike after searching far and wide for a good iPhone holder. For the first 3 weeks it worked good for me. My phone vibrated quite a bit so I had to place some fabric or paper towel between the holder and the back of the phone. Nothing damaging just annoying noise while riding. It's pretty bulky as well. After 3 weeks of riding, on smooth roads with my road bike, I noticed the holder seemed to be moving more than it did at first. When I detached the holder I noticed the bracket that attaches to the base had broken. So needless to say, money wasted. The plastic appears to be too brittle to withstand any vibration. As I said I ride on smooth roads and I have put less than 150 miles on my bike since purchasing this holder.

5 out of 5 stars Very secure iPhone mount   August 20, 2009
Biker Fan (Santa Rosa, CA United States)
I've had this mount for about a month and ridden a lot with it. Mostly paved bike paths, but a little packed dirt. Still the usual bumps and shaking on a bike and I'm very impressed that this mount has not slipped or budged at all. My iPhone is very secure.

The only criticism I'd have is that the instructions could have been more complete, though we were able to figure it out easily. I'd recommend it to a friend. I'd also recommend the iPhone Bike Tracker app to go with it.

1 out of 5 stars $500 lesson learned.   August 4, 2009

I had this on my bike for a few weeks. Hundreds of miles.

On my first ride, I noticed that the phone vibrated inside the mount. I added some felt stickies and that eliminated the vibration.

A couple of weeks later the phone bounced out of the holder at low speed on a dirt road. It was the first time that'd happened so I wrote it off as an anomaly (yea... that was stupid).

Last weekend I was riding in the Copper Triangle in CO and during a fast downhill I hit a moderate bump. If my phone hadn't flown off my bike after I hit it, I wouldn't have given the bump a second thought. It wasn't that big. Anyhow the phone hit the pavement at 45mph and shattered. I picked it up in 2 pieces, stuck it in my jersey and completed my ride. It cost me $500 to replace my phone yesterday.

I'm pretty mad at myself for trusting my phone to this flimsy thing especially when I could see that it was cheaply made after the first ride.

4 out of 5 stars So far so good...   July 20, 2009

Just used the iPhone Bike Mount for the first time yesterday, on a somewhat bumpy 10-mile rail trail. The mount (and Runkeeper) performed great!

First of all, I was a little leery about the whole wire-tire thing. I just didn't see how it could hold the mount in place, and the engineer in me really wanted to see some screws and an underside plate. However, the mount did not move at all during my initial run, and it looks much better than some of the larger mounts that do have additional hardware. (They do provide a piece of rubber to help keep the mount from sliding.)

Second, the actual clip that holds the iPhone is fantastic. I cannot see how your phone could possible come out of the clip once inserted properly. (I mistakenly even left my iPhone on my bike in the carrier behing my van for a few miles with no issues.)

In conclusion, you can't been the mount for the price. Sure, there are bolt-on solutions out there, but they destroy the aesthetics of the bike as you would have a huge piece of plastic bolted on your handlebars. The only thing I need to find yet is a way to power/charge my iPhone while riding to improve battery life...as I like to watch the Runkeeper app tick along while riding.

I'll update the review if anything goes wrong on subsequent rides...but so far so good!
