I bought this device so that my two kids could share a single iTouch and with two headphones. But the jack doesn't give you that satisfying 'click' that makes you push harder and harder. Although the sound is just as good as any regular headphone set, the jack casing could have been made better.

I am recording my acoustic guitar with an app on my iPod Touch. I was not able to hear the first take while recording the overdub. I knew there had to be some kind of splitter without using the iPhone headset or something equivalent.
This is it! I can easily record my guitar with a studio quality mic, then listen the the first track while recording a second track. Works like a charm.

One downside to the newer Ipod & Iphones is the loss of support for many legacy third party products.
I'm starting to lose my hearing a bit, so for years, I'd been using a Belkin IPOD DC amplifier/adapter pin connector linked through my cassette player on my vehicle for my passengers, while I used the headphone jack for myself. This allowed passengers to moderate the volume for themselves while allowing me to turn up the volume for a comfortable range for myself.
Alas, with the dropping of firewire support, many of the legacy products no longer work. My Belkin setup being one of them. There is a device you can add to many legacy units that work as an adapter, but it doesn't work with everything. When used with my Belkin setup, I get a message it's not compatible with the Iphone (3GS) unless it's in airplane mode, which defeats the purpose I bought it for.
I'd purchased a Giffin splitter with a separate volume control, but failed to account for the three ring prong on the Iphone the first two for audio out, the third for the microphone. So while I could plug the splitter into the cassette unit for guests, I lost the ability to answer or make calls. So while in Airplane mode it worked, but wasn't helpful for using the IPhone's main feature the phone.
I purchased this splitter, and while it doesn't have a separate volume control for the second headset, it works just fine for the cassette line which is controlled by the car's stereo itself. So that problem is solved.
The product does what it is advertised to do and appears well made.
I recommend this product without hesitation.

This splitter works just as advertised. I use it exclusively in my truck for playing music from my iPhone to the car stereo with a cassette adapter (Don't care for the wireless volume or quality) and because I haven't gotten with the whole 21st century wireless headset bunch yet, I leave my wired headset plugged into the second jack of the splitter specially designed for two way wired headset conversation. This way I do not have to switch out any wires while driving when a call comes in. A most useful accessory to have for this purpose.

This is just a splitter and it will do the work if that's what you need.
But I was hoping it would include these two very useful features:
- GSM shield so that the music you play is not interrupted by awful buzzing sounds
- automatic switch from audio out to headset out when receiving a call, if the headset is plugged. And vice-versa when the call is over.
