Product Description
Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by a species that take over the minds of their human hosts while leaving their bodies intact, and most of humanity has succumbed. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, knew about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the too vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind. Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with visions of the man Melanie loves - Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer yearns for a man she's never met. As outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off to search for the man they both love.

Amazon.com Review
Amazon Best of the Month, May 2008: Stephenie Meyer, creator of the phenomenal teen-vamp Twilight series, takes paranormal romance into alien territory in her first adult novel. Those wary of sci-fi or teen angst will be pleasantly surprised by this mature and imaginative thriller, propelled by equal parts action and emotion. A species of altruistic parasites has peacefully assumed control of the minds and bodies of most humans, but feisty Melanie Stryder won't surrender her mind to the alien soul called Wanderer. Overwhelmed by Melanie's memories of fellow resistor Jared, Wanderer yields to her body's longing and sets off into the desert to find him. Likely the first love triangle involving just two bodies, it's unabashedly romantic, and the characters (human and alien) genuinely endearing. Readers intrigued by this familiar-yet-alien world will gleefully note that the story's end leaves the door open for a sequel--or another series. --Mari Malcolm

dont hesitate...dont even bother reading the synopsis or others reviews (this one included) youre just wasting time you could be spendin getting lost in the fabulous characters and world stephanie meyer has created. her writing explores the human depths of characters you wont soon forget and will have you coming back for more.

4 out of 5 stars Unexpectedly Good Read   August 31, 2010

I have to start by saying that I AM NOT of fan of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series. I've never read the books or even seen the movies. The whole vampire thing just seemed really campy to me and I never had an interest in them. So, when I recieved this book as a gift I was really apprehensive about reading it. It actually sat on my night stand for several weeks before I picked it up. But, once I started reading I couldn't put it down. The character development was oustanding. Right away I was intrigued and wanted to know what was going to pan out with these characters. The story moves along very quickly, and you keep wanting to read just one more chapter. It was thought provoking, exciting, and emotional all at once. I definately under-estimated Meyer's writing abilities and really look forward to next novel for adults. I still have no desire to delve into the Twilight series, but Meyer's has definately peeked my interest in her talent. The Host is a good book, one I will definately recommend to friends.

Repeat the Title of my review 10000 times. If you enjoy that excercise, you will enjoy The Host. Perplexed?....read The book and it will become perfectly clear.

4 out of 5 stars THE HOST   August 30, 2010
Shantrell D. Jones (Chesapeake Beach, MD)
I would recommend this book to a friend who is interested in sci-fiction romance novels. Why would I recommend this book because it has an interesting story line and it was really was different from the books I read . I was expecting this book to have so form of aliens walking around but this book is very human. "The Healer's name was Fords Deep Waters. Because he was a soul, by nature he was all things good: compassionate, patient, honest, virtuous, and full of love." This quote is describing a soul named Healer these souls are peaceful, and smart. They take over other life forms and then they move to another life form after they die in that body and life for thousands of years. "You are the noblest, purest creature I've ever met. The universe will be a darker place without you. These were his words over my grave, my epitaph, and I was glad that I got to hear them." These are the words from Doc who is taking Wanda out of Mel. Then Wanda says her last thought before she is taken out of Mel's body. This happened when Wanda decided to leave mel's body and let her be with her lover Jared. I like this book but it showed how man would act if a creature different from humans wanted to make peace or be friendly. It was very good book and I hope Stephine Meyer make more books like this genre.
